Tileyard resident Renegade Design, a Lighting & Production Design Studio, collaborated on the Hermès project ‘Brides De Galaxy’.
On the 30th of November, Hermès took over an industrial studio lot on the outskirts of West London to celebrate one of the house’s most iconic exports, the Brides de Gala silk scarf print.
The space was transformed into an otherworldly desert. Envisioned by London-based set designer Ibby Njoya, purple and orange sand dunes populated the space, which also featured rock structures transformed into cocktail bars, disco balls that hung over a giant dance floor like a miniature solar system and a rendition of the Brides de Gala print immortalised via a twinkling constellation achieved through LED lights, designed by Renegade Design.
This trippy, imagined land, dubbed ‘Brides de Galaxy’, took its visual cues from the rich array of carré silk scarves from Hermès’s archive.
The event featured performances included Hackney-born musician and actor Hope, as well as a group of dancers who showcased the carré in a contemporary dance performance which took place later in the evening, choreographed by Portuguese ballet dancer Marcelino Sambé.
