The Tileyard Group joins The Association of Independent Music (AIM) as a Friend of AIM in a move to bring together the two communities of independent businesses and support the UK’s independent music sector.
The exciting new partnership has set out a 12 month agenda for collaborations to support independent businesses across the two organisations. The partnership will connect Tileyard and AIM’s creative communities, facilitating networking opportunities along with a range of other benefits that will be announced later this year.
The first of these networking opportunities will come in the form of a joint social event for AIM Members and Tileyard Residents, taking place at Tileyard London on Tuesday 28 September. Partnering with Tileyard for the first in-person AIM Social since the pandemic began, the event will provide a chance for attendees to build their networks and make useful contacts, with DJ sets from both the AIM and Tileyard communities.
At the end of September, AIM will also host its next Ideas Exchange session at Tileyard, bringing together key decision makers from AIM’s Distributor Members with exciting tech companies and platforms from within the Friend of AIM membership to exchange knowledge and make connections.
“We are delighted to welcome Tileyard as our newest Friend of AIM and to be able to celebrate our partnership by hosting the first post-lockdown AIM Social at the Gallery at Tileyard London later this month. Tileyard plays host to an exciting and vibrant community of creative entrepreneurs in music and beyond. We are very aligned in our mission to build community and enable businesses to connect and expand with an emphasis on social justice and sustainability. I am excited to be able to work together with the team there for the benefit of AIM’s Members into the future.”
-Paul Pacifico – CEO, AIM
The coming 12 months are pivotal moments of growth for both AIM and Tileyard, as they set the roadmap out for growing their own communities.
AIM represents and supports the UK’s independent music community, which makes up over a quarter of the UK’s recorded music market. Now in its 22nd year, AIM’s members range from the largest, most respected record labels and associated music businesses in the world to self-releasing artists and the next generation of entrepreneurs in music.
Earlier this year AIM launched its brand-new Associate Membership tier in beta offering free access to knowledge and networks to anyone releasing music through an independent AIM Distributor Member.
Tileyard is well known for its creative hub in London’s bustling creative quarter at the heart of Kings Cross, home to some of the most exciting innovators within the creative industries. In an exciting move representing significant investment and regeneration, Tileyard is set to open its second creative hub in 2022 at their brand-new site in Wakefield. Once open, Tileyard North will be the home to creative offices, music studios, post-production facilities, a 1000 capacity event space, delicious food and beverage offerings, a world-class education training centre and a boutique hotel. Tileyard North is already set to be the ‘new creative hub of the north’, bringing together the creative industries of Yorkshire.
The future of the collaboration will host benefits for AIM members across Tileyard events and activations, as well as some exciting projects yet to be announced.
“At Tileyard, we’ve always championed the independent and creative sectors, offering home to some of the most exciting creative entrepreneurs and businesses in the UK. Since the very beginning, we’ve supported AIM’s vision, and are delighted to announce a partnership of support and growth. We look forward to seeing how this partnership will benefit both of our communities for many years to come.”
-Paul Kempe – Owner and Founder, Tileyard
“Community is at the core of everything we do, an ethos we have lived by since setting up Tileyard. We believe this is what makes AIM and Tileyard’s partnership the perfect collaboration. We create community through placemaking, and AIM create their community through support, promotion, and education. We believe that by greater-connecting the dots between more talented creatives and entrepreneurs, we can create more opportunities for success, and more stories to be told.”
