Tileyard North Developments Update

go back

Today, we’re bringing you the latest update on the developments at Tileyard North, our creative industries destination in Wakefield.

Our community up north is expanding, and we have some exciting news to share with you from the continuing restoration and build onsite.

The New Build

We are delighted to announce the commencement of work on the new construction. This impressive addition will offer 40,000 sqft of space, with completion expected in May 2024. This will provide an ideal environment for creators to flourish, collaborate and see more hospitality offerings open for all to enjoy. We’re also targeting BREEAM Excellent ratings for a high environmental qualification for the build, with the addition of PV panels.

The Calder

Exciting transformations are happening in one of the mills by the river, aptly named The Calder. Shell and core works have commenced as Tileyard North begin the journey of converting this space into a boutique hotel. The hotel aims to cater to both the local and creative community and they anticipate finishing the initial phases of this project in February/March 2024.

Phoenix Mill

We are pleased to report that Phoenix Mill – the building next to The Calder that predates Rutland Mills – has progressed with the planning application process. Enabling works have begun, ensuring the area is cleared and ready for construction. This building holds tremendous potential, and we are excited to see it come to life in the near future.

The remaining public realm onsite will be finished by Summer 2024 with full access down to the river.

Phase 1a Completion

Phase 1a of the development has reached completion, marking a significant milestone for Tileyard North. Cutter Mill, Cotton Mill, Corn Mill, and the Carding Shed are now open and full of activity. These spaces have already attracted residents from various creative industries. In addition to the vibrant workspace, Tileyard North offer meeting rooms and event spaces available for hire. You can now enjoy the wonderful offerings of The Distillery Bar and The Yorkshire Brasserie, as well as our membership music and content studios.

While the community is expanding, Tileyard North still have a few remaining resident music studios and office spaces available for businesses in the creative sector. If you are looking for a dynamic and collaborative environment to grow your venture in the north, please get in touch with our team.

We are immensely proud of the progress made and the incredible community that has formed. Our commitment to fostering creativity and providing state-of-the-art facilities remains unwavering.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to shape Tileyard North into an unparalleled creative destination.
