Welcome to our brand new ‘Top 5’ blog series. Every week we will be revealing five pearls of wisdom from a member of the Tileyard London community. From creative industry tips, to top places in London to eat and drink, there’s a whole host of knowledge at Tileyard that you definitely don’t want to miss.
This week we spoke to Justin Hutton, beer enthusiast and Sales Operation Director at Two Tribes Brewhouse and Taproom, based at Tileyard London. Justin gave us the lowdown on his top 5 favourite places to drink in London and why.
1.Fourpure Basecamp – Bermondsey
Recently refurbed, the Fourpure Basecamp Taproom has 40 beers on tap at any given time, a work space level, a quiet area for working, food by Oh My Dog and a take away bottle shop. What more do you need? Perfect for an office away from the office or for starting the Bermondsey Beer Mile on a Saturday.
2. Ravenswood Estate – Walthamstow
Categorising Ravenswood Estate as one of my top 5 is perhaps cheating a bit because there are a bunch of bars in one location – a carpark in Walthamstow. They all have communal seating but each place offers something different. You will find Wildcard Brewery (craft beer), Trap Tap (cidery), Pillars (speciality lager brewery), Mothers Ruin (Gin) and God’s Own Junkyard with the most amazing display of neon signs you will ever see with a café inside too.
3. Nightjar – Old Street
Nightjar is a basement, speakeasy style cocktail bar that has an eclectic range of rotating cocktails and regular jazz and blues nights. Last time I was there I drank a seaweed cocktail out of a shell!
4. High Cross – Tottenham
In an old toilet block close to Spurs stadium this bar only holds about 30 people at once. High Cross has a great craft beer range and does killer Sunday Roasts.
5. The Haggerston – Haggerston
Sunday night live Jazz until 3am at The Haggerston is an absolute must after a long weekend! Call in sick to work on a Monday and go party with the bar staff. It packs out so if you are not in by at least midnight you probably aren’t getting in!
