Welcome Alice West as Marketing Manager

We’d like to introduce you to the newest member of our creative team, Alice West.

We caught up with Alice to ask her about her career, aspirations, and what it’s been like joining the Tileyard family.

What made you want to work at Tileyard?

I had known about Tileyard for a couple of years prior to the position becoming available. During this time an inside ‘Tileyard bird’ would often tell me how great the community and family vibe was there, and how every day there was something exciting and cool to see or talk about. So naturally, when the opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance.

Tell us one thing you are most excited about within your role?

Inherently I love graphic design and connecting people, either with each other or through brands, creating spaces and opportunities for people to connect, grow and make memories. I am most looking forward to making this happen for our Tileyard community, who are all very passionate about what they do and who they are. 

What are you hoping to bring to the team?

I hope to bring a new way of creative thinking into the team through design and also to be their creative enabler to some of the impressive ideas and projects that are in the pipeline. 

Along with continuing the family-like Tileyard vibes to support and help grow each other into the professional inner-selves, we all aspire to be. 

What does your day to day currently look like?

Well if one thing is for certain, no day is the same but it is exactly how I love to work. The perfect balance of conceptual thinking, graphic design and of course, spreadsheets. I don’t think there is an occupation out there that can save you from a spreadsheet haha. 

Tell us about your background in marketing and design?

Graphic design has been my core since being a teenager but constantly battled with the logical side of my brain, so when I delved into marketing it was like I could have my cake and eat it too.  The two work unanimously side by side but also have their own set methodologies and structures, this is a little slice of heaven.  

I have been very fortunate to work in hybrid roles since graduating, building a strong foundation across, graphic design, web development, brand, campaign management and digital marketing. And now feel like I’ve hit a eureka moment where I get to combine all of this into one incredible role. 

Tell us one thing you’re most looking forward to this year? 

We all know this has been a very tough year for many and my heart goes out to everyone who is having a particularly tough time. So for me its just the little things I am looking forward to most, and that is sitting in a good old British pub garden, giggling with my friends with a freshly poured pint. 

Quickfire questions! Favourite artist/band?

Oo well, Lane 8 is my go-to if I want to party, concentrate or chill! He is all three and everything in between.

But honestly, I have a lot of love for a myriad of artist from Hybrid Minds, through to Skinshape and more nostalgic artists like Ashanti. 

Favourite food?

I’m sure this is often the hardest question to answer. I can only narrow it down to a cuisine, and for me, it’s Moroccan all the way – the perfect balance of sweet, spice, fruit and fresh herbs, simply delicious!

Dream holiday?

For me, it’s all about national parks, ancient forests, river water-sports and climbing and hiking anything and everything. I am at my happiest at a top of a mountain.
