Label Manager at Pure Energy GO, Nikkie Riozzi is one of the first creatives to join the Tileyard North community.
With a background in fitness and a plethora of projects coming soon, Nikkie shares more on her role and why knowing your voice and being authentic is crucial for a career in the industry.
Nikkie oversees the development and distribution of high-quality music for fitness instructors and gym owners. Her dedication and commitment to the fitness industry has earned her recognition and respect from her peers and clients. She is a certified personal trainer, nutritionist, and fitness instructor and has appeared on various television shows, including ITV’s ‘This Morning’ and Channel 4’s ‘How to Lose Weight Well.’
It’s over to you, Nikkie…
Tell us about your background, your upbringing, and your introduction to the world of music.
My background is mainly in dancing and delivering fitness based workout classes. I studied Dance (Contemporary but I was born to be a part of anything funky!) and was a part of a Street Dance community project called Dance Alive based in Liverpool, which showed me how to adapt and move with different cultures and backgrounds. From there, I fell in love with music that inspired me to move my body in different ways, and also finding the art of fusion, fusion of dancing to the unexpected tracks (for example: a beautiful contemporary dance piece to Draw Heavy Hip Hop Track gives a whole new meaning to diversity through music, and music coming together to create something beautiful).
Since then, I got a scholarship to present my signature dance classes internationally, and I’m super proud that I got to work for Nike Woman in Europe. One highlight was being part of a team of Hip Hop choreographers, being the only female and the only UK representative for the style – that will forever make my heart sing and bring a cheeky smile to my face.
What does a day in your life look like as a Label Manager?
A day in the world of a Label manager involved…
- Feedback to producers on new tracks making sure they fit the fitness purpose, also in the studio helping in-house producers make the mixes at the right intensity for different class styles.
- Filming of advice and tips for the Pure Energy fitness community on how to use our music, and get the best out of our new Subscription app functionalities.
I adore this job as each day comes with fresh challenges and always keeps me on my toes!
What would you say to your younger self about being a woman in music… what to expect, the difficulties, the excitements?
Ooh that’s a great question. I think knowing your voice is worth hearing, believe in your gut instinct and don’t you dare hold back. I work in a very male orientated office, but I am lucky they are very accepting of my strange ways as they are some funny characters themselves. I would also tell my younger self that sometimes you get it right and sometimes wrong, but I know that’s life and not just you, nobody is perfect and why would you want to be that’s boring! Be your authentic funky self, and the world will make sense when you believe in you.
What can we look forward to from Pure Energy GO in the upcoming year?
Pure Energy GO has some very exciting projects coming this year. We have the launch of our new GO PLAY albums on our subscription app, which will make the fitness coach using our music more accessible to the right mix and the best mix for their workouts. We will also be showcasing all our new music at The International Fitness Showcase in March at Winter Gardens Blackpool, the biggest fitness convention in the UK.
What other exciting things have you been working on lately, either work or personally?
Being a creative mind, I am constantly trying new ways to move your music to the best mix and programmes. I am currently designing new albums that are due to hit our website in April. A lot of care and hard work has gone into our new albums and I am excited for everyone to hear.
