Tileyard Alumna YolanDa Brown received the honour for services to music, music education and broadcasting.
We are grateful to have had saxophonist and broadcaster YolanDa Brown as part of our community, she has been instrumental in making Tileyard the unique place it is.
YolanDa joined the Tileyard Community back in 2020, and since her arrival, she has continued to excel. In July 2022, YolanDa was appointed chairwoman of the British Phonographic Industry – the representative voice for independent and major record labels across the UK and organiser of The Brit Awards and the Mercury Prize.
Fast forward to March 14th, YolanDa continues to amaze us as she picked up an honour from the King at Buckingham Palace just a day after performing in front of His Majesty as part of the Commonwealth Day Service in Westminster Abbey.
The two-time MOBO Award winner expressed her pride after she was handed her OBE by King Charles for services to music, music education and broadcasting.
